Affordable Housing Supplementary Planning Document Approved

East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Cabinet has approved the Affordable Housing Supplementary Planning Document.

The Affordable Housing Supplementary Planning Document provides further guidance on the application of the affordable housing policy in the East Riding Local Plan Strategy Document and will be an important consideration in determining planning applications, subject to adoption of the strategy document by Full Council.

Affordable housing is defined as social-rented, affordable-rented and intermediate housing, provided to eligible households whose needs are not met by the market. The policy requires affordable housing to be provided on new development sites at or over the site size threshold. It also sets out the circumstances when rural exception sites for affordable housing would be acceptable in locations where market housing would not normally be allowed and where there are particular needs identified.
