Barratt Developments Wins Housebuilder AwardThe Yorkshire division of Barratt Developments has scooped a top award at the Yorkshire Residential Property Awards.

Barratt Developments, which encompasses the Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes brands and is developing the Elm Tree Park and Woodhall Grange developments in Beverley, was awarded Housebuilder of the Year at the industry awards, which aim to celebrate the very best of the region’s housing developments and the property professionals that make them happen.

Barratt Developments Yorkshire East also scooped a win in the Best Large Development category for its Derwenthorpe development in York.

Developed in partnership with the Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust, Derwenthorpe was recognised for its family oriented atmosphere and eco-friendly attributes, which include heating sourced from a bio mass-fired district-heating network to promote sustainable and affordable living.

Paul Newman, Managing Director of Barratt David Wilson Homes Yorkshire East, commented:

“It’s fantastic to be awarded not only Housebuilder of the Year, but also Best Large Development for our Derwenthorpe site at this year’s Yorkshire Residential Property Awards.”

Barratt Developments are committed to quality

“While housebuilders are currently being encouraged by the government to build, we are committed to keeping quality, affordability and sustainability at the forefront of our agenda, and creating great communities to live in as well as building new homes.”

“It’s something we have implemented at our Derwenthorpe development in York, which is providing high quality and energy efficient homes to an area that is currently suffering a real shortage of housing. It’s encouraging to have these efforts recognised.”

He continued:

“We’ve been building homes in Yorkshire for over 40 years now and are committed to continuing to develop great places to live across the region. With 1,400 homes in the pipeline for the next financial year, and over 45 projects currently in construction across Yorkshire, we are continuing to appease the housing shortage in the region by building quality homes for local buyers.”
