Barratt provide shelter for homeless peopleLeading local housebuilder, Barratt Developments Yorkshire East, has raised enough money to house 100 people over Christmas after asking staff to contribute the money they would usually spend on Christmas cards to national homeless charity Crisis.

Barratt Developments Yorkshire East, which encompasses the Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes brands, has matched all donations made by employees to the charity, raising a fantastic £2,229.00. This allowed 100 homeless people to have three hot meals, medical assistance, clean clothes and a bed for the night during the festive season at a Crisis centre in the UK.

It costs just £22.29 for a homeless person to benefit from Crisis’ services, and Barratt asked all employees, including those at its Woodhall Grange and Elm Tree Park developments in Beverley, to donate the usual cost of their Christmas cards to meet this target, with the local house builder doubling all donations.

Barratt director delighted at the number of staff who got behind the idea

Paul Hogan, Sales Director at Barratt Developments Yorkshire East, commented:

“We’re delighted that so many of our staff got behind this campaign and dug deep to help those less fortunate over the festive period.”

“Knowing that we have helped 100 people to have hot meals, medical assistance and a bed for the night over Christmas means a great deal and we’d like to thank everyone who has supported this very worthy cause.”
