Hutton Cranswick Housing Needs Survey is Underway

A housing needs survey is underway in Hutton Cranswick to see if there is a need for affordable homes, either to rent or buy, for local people.

With assistance from the parish council, an Open Afternoon is being organised for Wednesday, 10 February, from 3-7pm, at the WI Hall in Cranswick.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Rural Housing Enabler, David Siddle, will be on hand to answer questions and offer advice. Residents attending the event will be able to complete a housing needs survey form, so that a better understanding of local housing needs can be established and that people
can register their interest in any housing that may subsequently be provided.

The form can also be collected from the local Post Office, other community venues, such as the Sports and Recreation Centre, and the local primary school until the end of the week (14 February).

The council is committed to working with local communities to meet identified housing needs.

Councillor Symon Fraser, cabinet portfolio holder for asset management, environment and housing said:

Survey will show benefits to Hutton Cranswick development can bring

“The survey will help us to understand and establish local needs and will help to make sure that development plays its role in providing affordable homes for local people in the future.

“Villages like Hutton Cranswick need to retain their local services and affordable housing schemes can help achieve this.”

The survey is also open to those who no longer live in the village but who have a strong local connection. This may include those who have caring responsibilities or those who have their roots in the village and want to move back.

If anyone has a local connection with Hutton Cranswick and would like to complete a questionnaire or would like further information, they can contact David Siddle by emailing david.siddle@eastriding.gov.uk or calling (01482) 396115.
