Residents offered bargain rates for home energy

Householders who signed up for the latest round of YORSwitch have been given access to fuel tariffs which will save them an average of £281 on their home energy bills.

This means many families across the East Riding will be able to fix their energy prices at low rates for the year ahead.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council attracted 1,371 household registrations for its latest YORSwitch scheme and these were combined with similar initiatives run by more than 60 local authorities around the UK to create a collective of more than 18,000 households.

Energy savings means money stays in customers pocket

Personal offer letters or e-mails are now being sent out, letting customers know how much they will be saving against their current deal.

There is no obligation for people to accept their personal offer but, if they do, it is straightforward to switch and the new provider will take care of the whole process.

Councillor Symon Fraser, portfolio holder for asset management, environment and housing at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “Once again East Riding residents who signed up to YORSwitch now have the opportunity to choose a competitive supplier of energy.

“The process is so simple and easy that I would strongly encourage householders to give the YORSwitch process a go next time around. You really do have nothing to lose and you, like many thousands of others, may just find that you can make significant savings.

“These savings effectively mean more money in the pockets of our residents and hopefully then spent with local businesses which in turn supports the local East Riding economy.”
